Overview
Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is offering a two-year structured Young Professional-in-Training programme aimed at unemployed South African graduates. The programme combines institutional learning and on-the-job training to build work experience and improve employability.
Candidates will undergo a structured development journey with mentorship and performance assessments every six months.
Position Purpose
This programme is designed to develop graduates through practical exposure across various functional areas within Transnet Freight Rail. It targets unemployed graduates with no prior work experience in their field of study and aims to build critical industry skills.
Who Should Apply?
- Unemployed South African graduates aged 18โ35.
- Applicants with a completed Bachelorโs degree at NQF Level 8.
- Graduates with no prior work experience in their field of study.
- Candidates from DHET-registered institutions (Universities and Universities of Technology).
- Individuals willing to be placed at various TFR depots and departments.
Minimum Requirements
- Fully completed Bachelorโs degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Systems Engineering, or related field.
- No prior work experience required.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must meet graduate programme eligibility requirements.

- Duration: 24 months
- Mentored graduate development programme
