Who Are We?
Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS) focuses on serving retail and corporate clients in South Africa while strengthening its strategic position in the local market.
Sanlam Life and Savings consists of three clusters:
- Sanlam Corporate
- Sanlam Retail Mass
- Sanlam Retail Affluent
The Sanlam Life and Savings Office provides strategic direction, coordination, governance oversight, and support to these clusters to ensure business objectives are achieved.

Actuarial Bursaries
Sanlam believes that mastery in any field requires strong support. Therefore, bursaries are offered to:
- Students enrolled to study Actuarial Science in 2027
- Current 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year Actuarial Science students
Who Are We Looking For?
Undergraduate Students:
- South African citizens studying Actuarial Science full-time
- Currently in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year
- Strong academic performance and determination to succeed
School-Leaving Learners (2027 intake):
- Strong mathematics ability
- Problem-solving mindset
- Focused, disciplined, and committed to long-term study

Requirements
For Undergraduate Students:
- Full academic transcripts
- Proof of registration or fee statement
- Copy of matric certificate
- Copy of ID
- Comprehensive CV (academics, leadership, activities)
- Motivation answering:
- What does an actuary do?
- Why study actuarial science?
- Why do you believe you can become an actuary?
- Why should Sanlam choose you?
- If not actuarial science, what alternative career?
For School-Leaving Learners:
- Final Grade 11 results (2025)
- Grade 12 mid-year results (2026)
- NBT results (if available)
- Final Grade 12 results may determine final selection
- Minimum 90% Mathematics and overall A aggregate
- Comprehensive CV
- Motivation answering the same questions listed above
