Programme Overview
The Standard Bank Group Bursary Fund provides full-cost bursaries for students requiring financial support for their second, third, and final year of undergraduate studies, as well as postgraduate studies up to Masterβs level. The bursary covers university fees, accommodation, meals, books, a laptop, a monthly stipend, and transport between home and campus.
What the Bursary Covers
- University tuition fees
- Accommodation β in university residence or private accommodation (subject to limits)
- Meals β provided by the university or self-catering
- Books and study materials
- Laptop computer
- Monthly stipend for living costs
- Transport between home and campus (bus tickets, up to 4 times per year)
Selection Criteria
- Students in 2nd, 3rd, or final year of undergraduate studies, or postgraduate studies up to Masterβs level
- Strong academic performance β minimum 65% aggregate
- Full-time registration at a recognized South African institution
- Financial need will be considered
- Fields of study include:
- Agriculture
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Mathematics and Statistics (Actuarial, Analytics, Business, Data, Information)
- Science
- Technology (Financial, Information)
- Behavioural Economics disciplines (Economics, Behavioural Finance, Sociology, Psychology, Neuroscience)
Required Documents
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Certified proof of academic results to date (Matric certificate and full tertiary academic record)
- Proof of combined household income

- Submit your application before the closing date: 30 September.
Closing Date
Applications open annually from 1 May and close on 30 September. Only complete applications submitted by this date will be considered.
