
The MQA Bursary Scheme
Programme Overview
The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) Bursary Scheme is designed to increase the number of students pursuing careers in the mining and minerals sector. The programme supports students enrolled at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, and universities of technology.
The bursary covers full tuition and registration fees, residence fees or private accommodation allowance, books, meals, and an allowance per bursar per semester where applicable.
Eligibility
- Only existing MQA-funded bursars are eligible to apply for continuation of their bursary for the 2026 academic year.
- First-time bursary applicants for 2026 are no longer eligible, as the first-time application window is closed.
Application Window
The application window for MQA continuing bursars for the 2026 academic year is open until 22 January 2026. Late applications will not be considered.
How to Apply
- Only existing MQA bursars should complete and submit the continuation application.
- Access the MQA bursary continuation application through the official bursary link provided by MQA.
- Complete the online form accurately and upload any required supporting documents.
- Submit your application before the closing date: 22 January 2026.
- Ensure all information is correct, as incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
